Damian and his wife, Zarat, are launching Vertical Church, a family of Jesus followers “on mission” in the urban, college community of Historic West End/Vine City of Atlanta, Georgia on February 12, 2012 (public launch date). As graduates of colleges in the Atlanta University Center, they are called to help revitalize and serve this amazing community.
The church’s goal is to grow followers of Jesus Christ to impact the world for the Glory of God. This Bible-based church seeks to have an indispensable presence and voice in both the campus and community and actively engage in justice causes locally (i.e. human sex trafficking) while sending people globally.
Damian and Zarat currently live in Metro Atlanta with their son, Damian Jr. They celebrate over 11 years of marriage and over six years of raising a gifted child with complex medical needs. The family is preparing to relocate to this historic area, which is a major undertaking as they must secure the appropriate educational, medical, and developmental support and funding that will meet their son’s needs.
A Ministry Project Fund has been established through Helping Hands Ministries, a 501c3 charity designed to help ministry leaders like the Boyd Family. As this community is an under-resourced college community with the median income of approximately $17,000, they are approaching their service to this community as urban missionaries by raising financial support. This fund will specifically help cover the dynamic needs of their family.
